Gospel Church will be hosting a Christmas Eve Service for the Sunshine Gardens Assisted Living Facility. We will meet there at 4:30 pm on Christmas Eve to celebrate Christ’s coming together and with those who can’t make it out to worship. I wanted to let you all know about a free audio book available this month from christianaudio.com The book is called “What is the Mission of the Church?” By Kevin DeYoung and Greg Gilbert. The title is pretty clear about the overall point of the book, which has very helpful discussion on many topics surrounding this issue, especially issues of social justice, poverty, neighbor love, and how these important things relate to the mission of the church. We are excited to announce that we are moving into a new space this week in downtown Durango. From now on, all services will be held at 1150 C Main Ave. unless otherwise noted. Check the “Services” tab for a map.
Our prayer meeting this Wednesday will be at 1150c Main Avenue. This is the first door to the right of the Lost Dog. We will meet at 7 and will be considering renting out this space long term. Hope to see you there. Tom
There is a bike race this Sunday on the FLC campus. As far as I can figure out the specific closures, there is only one possible route to reach the chapel, regardless of which direction you are coming from. You might want to leave a bit early to allow for delays. Click Here for Map

As we begin to observe the season of advent, rejoicing over the coming of Christ and longing for his return, I wanted to highlight at least one resource to fuel that rejoicing and that longing. I would highly recommend the book called “Come Thou Long-Expected Jesus.” It is edited by Nancy Guthrie, and contains 22 chapters from great pastors and theologians throughout the history of the church as they have meditated deeply on the coming of Christ. We had some good discussion last night on chapters 3-4 in the book on mercy ministry. Chapter 3 highlights the central point that it is the gospel that motivates mercy. It is the mercy of God shown to his people that motivates God’s people to be like their Father. Jesus made himself poor so that by his poverty we might become rich in him.
